The first mention of Český Krumlov is found in writings from 1253, when the town, referred to as Chrumbenowe, was listed as one of the demesnes of the future King of Bohemia Přemysl Otakar II.

The worldwide renown of Karlovy Vary derives from its spas, its International Film Festival and typical local products such as Becherovka liqueur.

Konopiště is a chateau in the eponymous part of the town of Benešov in Central Bohemia, 40km southeast of Prague. It gained fame as the last seat of Archduke Franz Ferdinand d’Este.

The pride of the Karlštejn collections are the utterly unique 14th century wall paintings and the collection of 129 panel paintings (the biggest in the world) by Master Theodoric in the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

The Czech crown jewels were moved to Karlštejn for safety reasons at the start of the Hussite Wars and were kept there for almost 200 years.

Terezín’s name only regained Czech and international attention in more recent times as a tragic symbol of the suffering of tens of thousands of innocent people who died here during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia.

We offer tours of the RÜCKL CRYSTAL glassworks at Nižbor near Beroun, with demonstrations of the entire process glassmaking by hand, or the smaller family-run GLASSTAR Nenačovice glassworks.

The turning point in the history of Kutná Hora came in the year 1300, when King Václav II (Wenceslas II – 1278-1305) awarded the settlement the “mining law code” and a number of privileges, which elevated the town to the second most important in Bohemia after Prague.

Dětenice chateau was renovated in 1998, when an entirely untraditional medieval-style tavern was built in the chateau grounds and the local family brewery was reopened.

Since 1241, the landscape around the steep, rocky bank of the middle arm of the river Sázava has been dominated by the originally Gothic castle of ČESKÝ ŠTERNBERK.

Hluboká chateau (“Fraunberg” in German) stands on a hill by the river Vltava some 15km north of České Budějovice. It is open to the public and is one of the most attractive monuments in the Czech Republic.

Křivoklát (“Pürglitz” in German) is one of the oldest and most important medieval castles of princes and kings of Bohemia. It is situated by the town of Křivoklát in Rakovník district.

The historic centre of the town of TELČ is one of the most valuable urban conservation sites in Moravia. It was added to the UNESCO world cultural heritage list in 1992.

Příbram was famed as a historic mining town, commemorated today by the Příbram Museum of Mining, one of the biggest mining museums in the Czech Republic, with an extensive open-air exposition.

Nelahozeves has been settled since the younger Stone Age. That is proven by numerous archaeological findings, most notably from the neighbouring districts of Lobeč, Lešany and Hleďsebe.

Almost 100 mineral springs containing carbon dioxide and mineral salts are located in Mariánské Lázně and the surrounding area. 53 of the springs are tapped and used.
